Yugi Moto and Joey Wheeler are close friends. They are practicing together to prepare for the upcoming Duel Monsters tournament in the city. In each stage of the competition, some excellent teams will have a chance to receive a Locator Cards. The first two teams to win 6 cards will go to the finals to win the championship. The last opponent Yugi’s team will face is Marik. He is a mysterious person who works with a criminal organization that specializes in stealing cards: Rare Hunters. Before the final match, he and his comrades used their cards to activate the power of the Egyptian God cards, with the ultimate goal of covering the world in the darkness and turning every single one became a slave. Before this bad thing actually happens, Yugi and his friends have to stop it, and the only solution is probably to defeat the organizer of the Duel Monsters tournament to get the first God card. But that’s not easy, since he’s also a master!
The script of “Yu-Gi-Oh! – The Sacred Cards” is divided into two main parts, including the battle with the organizer of the Duel Monsters tournament, and the other one is to battle Marik. Before meeting these final bosses, players must overcome hundreds of other opponents, with increasing difficulty and complexity. The gameplay of the game is based on the standard Yu-Gi-Oh OCG/TCG rules, simpler, easier to understand and the system will give specific instructions for new players.
The game has more than 100 types of cards, designed according to classes and stats so it is quite tactical. Players need to understand the capabilities of each type of card and their class effects to optimize their power. Some classes that can make opponents weaker the most are: Shadow -> Light -> Fiend -> Dream. Sometimes, players can also combine to create stronger cards. The game takes place according to the turn-based mechanism. In turn, each opponent will choose the card to use the skill, or activate a certain attribute. Until a player’s cards are completely destroyed, the battle will end and the winner will receive the rewards including bonus units or new cards. In addition to collecting cards from victories, players can explore areas within the game, meet NPCs to know more about the plot, and also, collect other cards!
