Kaze Emanuar created a mini-hack called Super Mario Bros 3D. It has two Cap Switch stages, one final boss stage, and five relatively brief levels. This game has a unique feel thanks to the numerous custom objects and intriguing level designs.
The fact that all of the main stages have three stars each—a “Course Clear” star for finishing the stage, a 50-coin star (instead of a 100-coin star), and a 6-coin “red coin” star (the coins are actually green)—is one of the hack’s distinguishing characteristics. As opposed to when defeating the final boss, the Big Star that ends the game will appear after collecting 20 stars in the overworld hub.
This hack’s ability to switch between playing as Mario or Luigi, each with slightly different characteristics—Luigi can spin around in the air by pressing Z+B, but moves more slowly on the ground than Mario—is another unique feature. The player can toggle the HUD by pressing L thanks to the hack.
