Donkey Kong is a person with a good nature, but he is always jealous of the successes of others. One time, when he was watching TV, he saw Mario’s advertising of selling Mini toys. Shortly thereafter, a plan to steal the Mini toys was created, and made in the night. Unfortunately, Mario discovered this friend’s bad deeds and promptly stopped. However, not because of that Donkey Kong gave up. He became angrier that he kidnapped the people of the city to request a trade with Mario, otherwise they would be in danger. Mario must travel through 6 worlds to rescue innocent residents as well as make his friend alter to eliminate his evil personalities.
Before finding Donkey Kong and fighting him, players need to control Mario to overcome 6 worlds, with countless risks. Each world, divided into two halves, in which, there is a key located at the last door in the second half. If you can overcome the obstacles and win the key in this world, then the next world will be unlocked for players to continue exploring. If gamers are defeated, then they have to start from the first half. Mario does not design a life force bar, instead, there are only life points. Every point will be deducted for each time he collides with a monster or falls in a bottomless pit. But it can also be replenished whenever mysterious boxes are collected, or dropped by a group of dead monsters.
With each stage in a world, players need to defeat monsters, overcome obstacles quickly to cross the match. The system will count-down time, and life will be lost every time the time is up. If it is possible to complete the stage and have time left over, it will be added to the next stage. Of course, the less time it takes, the higher the score will be earned, and the system will sometimes reward stars. When the story is completed, these stars are used to unlock the “professional” mode, with more challenges and difficulties to experience.
Regarding combat mechanics, Mario can use some basic skills such as jumping, creating backflips, or picking up objects to attack enemies. Fighting and defeating the more enemies, the higher the score will be, and that is the condition for Mario to join the Minigames to collect more lives. In addition to the story mode with 6 worlds and 12 professional levels, the game is complemented with 6 “Plus worlds” with difficulty level is pushed higher, in which, the battle with the final boss is limited for 150 seconds.
