The story of DIGIMON BATTLE SPIRIT takes place in a dark corner of the Digit World digital world, when everything is welcome here, even monsters. However, it wasn’t really that peaceful, when the chaos along with the wrath of the devil had appeared with the ultimate goal of invading this land. Evil spirits are born, they possess the body of monsters called “Digimon” (short for Digit Monster). With a deeper purpose of occupying other planets in the universe. Evil spirits are constantly growing, becoming more cruel and brutal when they are ready to destroy fellow humans or any living creatures, or anything else that doesn’t obey to be a part of this plan. Fortunately, there are some Digimon that still maintain their inherent good nature, and always ready to fight against the evil ones. The only way to banish evil spirits is to defeat the part of Digimon, which is being possessed. The last hope for the peace of the universe still exist, but will it be successful?
DIGIMON BATTLE SPIRIT is divided into several small scenarios and covers many battles in one stage. Players will alternately pass the stages by defeating the enemy to unlock the next parts. This game is in the RPG role-playing genre, in which the players will take the role of Digimon in the digital world to defeat all the minions of the last enemy, Millenniummon. This journey is more difficult than ever, as the monsters in the way are constantly becoming stronger. With the available skills of the characters, the player needs to manipulate flexibly to damage the enemy as well as dodge attacks from them. However, it is a bit special that the characters in this game do not have the vitality bar. Every time the damage is done, small spheres of color called “D-Spirits” will drop. They are the measure of the final victory, who owns more D-Spirits after 2 minutes of fighting will win. It is this feature that explains why a role-playing game like DIGIMON BATTLE SPIRIT doesn’t have a level system design and equipment. It focuses on the player’s ability to control, such as whether they dodged well or create accurate attacks or not. It is an important premise which contributes to the glory after.
Regarding combat skills, each character will include a few basic skills such as punching, kicking, and jumping. They also have more special abilities like making a turn and sending enemies away. In the section below, I will introduce in more detail.
When the game is initially experienced, the system provided a number of usable characters, including Guilmon, Terriermon, Veemon, Wormmon, Agumon, Sukamon and Renamon. They have special fighting skills of their species, possessing outstanding qualities, such as agility, attack, or the ability to dodge well. Although there is no feature for upgrading skills or equipping armor as well as weapons, the evolutionary feature makes them stronger and fight better. Guilmon is physically weak, but the Fireball attack along with his quick feet will make the enemy wary. He can also evolve to become Gallantmon. Or Wormmon, a character known for his slow movement, but he launches attacks with incredible speed and is able to cling to walls to dodge attacks. Besides, a number of other characters in advance are Impmon, Gabumon, ExtraAgumon, BlackAgumon, and Gallantmon, which will be unlocked at later stages, when the player meets certain conditions. It is said that the game is so much more than that, but is that really true? Discover it yourself!
